Some Damien Jurado News

Here are a couple of goodies from the Damien Jurado camp. First off, Made In Mexico Records — whom I didn’t even know were still releasing music — will be re-releasing Jurado’s Gathered In Song EP. The EP, which was originally released in 1998, has become increasingly hard to find. The re-release will include the original 5 tracks, as well as several live tracks, acoustic versions, demos, and other odds and ends.

And Jurado will be releasing not one, but two brand new albums on Secretly Canadian. The albums will be related works, with similar lyrics, themes, and song titles. The first as-yet-untitled album will come out in the fall of 2006, the second will come out in early 2007. If you head on over to Jurado’s MySpace page, you can hear a demo from one of the new albums entitled “Looking For Trouble.”

While you’re there, you can also listen to “Ohio,” which is from Rehearsals for Departure, and is easily one of Jurado’s finest and most affecting, heartbreaking tracks.
