Polkarama 2006
Like Stereogum, I too have always loved “Weird Al” Yankovic’s various polka medleys, in which he takes a number of the day’s current hits and sets them to some blazing accordions and furious “oom-pah” beats.
Not only are they great silly fun to listen to, at least for those of us whose internal junior higher is still alive and kicking, but “Weird Al“ ‘s juxtaposition of polka and, for instance, the Pussycat Dolls, brilliantly exposes how utterly ridiculous and superficial so much of today’s pop music truly is.
Oh, and did I mention they’re great fun? Just try watching this fan-made video without chuckling even once.
