New Subscriber Playlist: “A Return to Bushnell”

Subscribers can listen to some of my favorite songs that I recall seeing at the Cornerstone Festival.

I spent the first week and a half of February 2021 going down a deep nostalgia hole, as I re-scanned and re-uploaded hundreds of photos that I took from my various trips to the Cornerstone Festival, a massive Christian music and arts festival that took place during the first week of July in the middle of an Illinois cornfield.

Cornerstone gave me some of the greatest concert experiences of my life. This month’s subscriber playlist, titled “A Return to Bushnell,” features some of my favorite songs that I saw performed at the festival (usually in hot, crowded tents packed with hundreds of fellow sweaty, grungy festivalgoers). There was something truly special about that experience, something I’ll treasure all my days.

Accompanying the playlist is the latest episode of my “Playlist Breakdown” podcast, in which I spotlight one of the playlist’s songs and why it’s so special and meaningful. In this episode, I talk about “Felicity, Darling,” the final song from Ester Drang’s excellent 2001 album, Goldenwest.
