New photos from HBO’s Game of Thrones adaptation

Entertainment Weekly has just posted a batch of new photos from HBO’s adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones and they look fantastic. The attention to detail is certainly near Lord of the Rings levels and it looks like the casting directors have certainly done themselves proud with their choices (pictured above is Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jamie Lannister).

The series airs in 2011, and I’m a little tempted to sign back up for cable TV just so that I can watch it without having to wait for the DVD/Blu-ray release. Hi-res versions of a couple of the EW photos can be found on the Making Game of Thrones production diary.
