Hirokazu Kore-Eda’s Still Walking coming to Blu-ray in February… with recipes

Still Walking - Hirokazu Koreeda

Sorry for yet another Blu-ray update, but this one is just too, um, delicious to ignore. Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Still Walking, which might very well be the best film I’ve seen so far in 2010 (though it originally came out in 2008), is coming to Blu-ray courtesy of the Criterion Collection. The movie is an absolute treat — read my review — but Criterion is adding in some more goodies of the culinary kind. Specifically, Criterion’s liner notes will include the recipes for all of the sumptuous dishes that are prepared in the movie. From Criterion’s blog:

Some things those of us who work at the Criterion Collection are serious about: movies (maybe you knew that), getting the details right, and eating and drinking. So when the recipes for the absurdly delicious-looking food the Yokoyamas prepare in Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Still Walking, which we’re working on now for release in February, came across our desks in the editorial department for inclusion in the booklet, we knew we ought to test them…

Still Walking will be released on Blu-ray on February 8, 2011. If you can’t wait until then, the movie is currently available via Netflix’s streaming service.

Thanks to Ryan for the head’s up.
