Here’s a Tip

I don’t delve too much into political matters, but when I saw this article mentioned on Fine Print, I had to post something about it.

Apparently, ratting out your neighbors, telling on your parents, and snitching on your co-workers is now “patriotic.” Apparently, law enforcement officials aren’t doing enough to protect us, because now mailmen, truckers, and utility employees are being recruited. “A national system for concerned workers to report suspicious activity.” I don’t think Orwell could’ve phrased it better.

Not too surprisingly, a quick web search turned up very little info on this. There’s this editorial in The Washington Post and this release on the ACLU website.

Now, maybe this is all nothing. Maybe it’ll turn out to be nothing more than your local “Neighborhood Watch Program.” But I’ve got this nagging feeling…
