Godzilla vs. Kong’s Trailer Gives Us a Taste of the Monster Smackdown We’ve All Been Waiting For

Well, everyone knows that Godzilla is a good guy. What this trailer presupposes is… maybe he isn’t.

Kong must have one heck of a publicist because he definitely dominates in this first trailer for the upcoming — and ’round these parts, highly anticipated — Godzilla vs. Kong. Indeed, it looks like he might be the good guy and Godzilla is, in fact, the bad guy. Needless to say, the internet’s nerdier sectors have found themselves embroiled in that age-old debate of who would win: a giant, battle axe-wielding ape or a giant lizard with atomic breath who cuts warships in two.

My money, of course, is on the latter. That, and the trailer contains some hints that maybe not is all as it seems with the Big G. Like maybe, just maybe, the big lizard that we see smashing things isn’t the Big G that we’ve all come to know and love. We’ll find out for sure when the movie — which stars Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Rebecca Hall, and Alexander Skarsgård, and was directed by Adam Wingard — arrives in theaters and on HBO Max on March 26.
