“Boys Don’t Cry” by Karen Choi

My friend’s latest single is a pedal steel-filled cover of the classic Cure song.

My friend Karen Choi has just released her latest single, a cover of The Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry.” Most Cure covers emerge from the goth, post-punk, and shoegaze sections of the musical spectrum (no surprise there, case in point). Karen’s cover, however, comes at the classic song from a twangier, more country-fied perspective that’s replete with oodles of Adam Howard Donald’s lovely pedal steel guitar.

Karen’s most recent full-length album is 2016’s Through Our Veins, which can be ordered directly from Bandcamp.
