I think it’s safe to say that Arcade Fire largely missed the “sophomore slump” with this year’s Neon Bible. While perhaps not as immediately incendiary as their debut, 2004’s Funeral, Neon Bible is still an exceptionally strong, confident, and provocative work.

The group has just launched a new website that might seem a little mercurial at first — until you realize it’s the new interactive Flash video for “Neon Bible.” Just click around as Win Butler sings the title track’s prophetic lyrics and watch what happens.

Not surprisingly, the folks on the “Us Kids Know” forums have already posted pages concerning the video, including the various actions you can make Win do (watch the video and you’ll see what I mean), and various interpretations of what those actions and the video’s shadowy — and slightly creepy — imagery might mean. Not to mention some clever Photoshopping jobs.
