Angels and Aliens

A couple of interesting articles were just posted to Christianity Today.

The first is an excerpt from a book titled From Angels to Aliens, which discusses how traditionally Christian concepts of good and evil are appropriated by the media for use in movies, books, video games, television, etc. Several Christian responses are mentioned, from an ultra-conservative response (represented by the reaction of some Christians towards the Harry Potter novels) to a more evangelical, moderate approach that tries to see such appropriations as possible avenues for spiritual discussions (such as uncovering the Christian themes in Tolkien’s work).

The second article is an interview with the author of From Angels to Aliens, in which she discusses her research and findings.
