Singin’ in the Rain is absolutely full of starry-eyed, classic, incredibly infectious Hollywood panache.

The American Astronaut works best if you think of it as a tweaked version of classic black-and-white serials.

Guy Maddin has created a weird little movie with a golden heart.

So completely over the top that it’s nearly an assault, one that makes this nearly 3 hour long movie speed along at a breakneck pace.

While the visuals are inventive, don’t expect much from the dialogue and story, no matter how universal.
