Self-Navigation - Crushed Stars

Crushed Stars are a band who don’t believe you have to shout to get attention. Their music is soft-spoken and elegant with lead singer Todd Gautreau barely raising his voice above a whisper. The mood in these songs is permanently lovelorn without coming across as too depressive.

“I feel like I’m flying, but you just turn and walk away” sings Gautreau on “Exit Wound” and ends the song with the line “I always knew you’d let me down.” He gets away with such pessimism because of the song’s undeniable beauty and refined style.

This is a record for a melancholy autumn spent gazing at unreachable stars. Crushed Stars are a rare treat of a band who deserve all the attention they can get.
