YouTube dropping support for IE6

Techcrunch reports that YouTube has placed a banner on their site that is visible to IE6 users that announces they’ll be phasing out support of IE6 and encourages IE6 users to upgrade to a modern browser (i.e., Chrome, Firefox, or IE8).

Of course, that begs the question of what “phasing out support” means. Does it mean that YouTube will simply become inaccessible to IE6 users? Or does that mean that all future development on YouTube will be done without consideration for IE6? I wonder if/when we’ll see more clarification on the official YouTube blog.
