We’ll Always Have

Lately, I’ve been on a kick to check out classic films, films that I feel I should watch if I want to call myself a film lover. Last night, I watched Casablanca, which is the source of 755 of all classic movie quotes. Quotes that have become, for better or worse, part of pop culture.

Think about it… how many times have you heard “Here’s lookin’ at you, kid” or “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship”? in some other movie or television show? However, there really is nothing like the original. However many times you’ve heard “We’ll always have Paris” or some derivative thereof, it isn’t until it comes from Humphrey Bogart’s lips that you’ve really heard it.

I guess some things can survive the inevitable dumbing down of culture, and when you hear or see them the way their meant to be, that’s something special.

Oh, and it’s a pretty good movie, too.
