Watch the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception

The first teaser/trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “contemporary sci-fi actioner” Inception has hit the Web, and it looks intriguing.

But what immediately struck me was what it sounded like. The ominous drones and percussion are far more evocative than the few seconds of imagery that we see.

I was reminded of the “uncomfortable” moments in The Dark Knight’s soundtrack, moments where crackling drones and strings worked as a sort of secondary dialog for the Joker, and gripped the viewer in a way that Nolan’s imagery, as strong as it was, couldn’t.
