Watch Massive Attack Perform with Elizabeth Fraser, Cover The Cure

To celebrate the 21st anniversary of their 1998 album Mezzanine, Massive Attack have embarked on a lengthy European and North American tour. Joining them is former Cocteau Twins singer Elizabeth Fraser, who contributed her heavenly voice to “Teardrop,” one of the group’s most famous singles. (Some of you may recognize it as the opening theme for House.)

As you can see in the above video, time has done nothing to diminish the beauty of Fraser’s voice. Interestingly, she wasn’t the original choice for the song’s vocalist… Madonna was. But listening to it now, I can’t imagine any other voice but hers paired with those beats and somber arrangements.

Looking at the setlist, Massive Attack isn’t just performing songs from Mezzanine; they’re also covering songs that were sampled on the album, including The Cure’s “10:15 Saturday Night” (which was used in “Man Next Door”).
