Watch the First Teaser for Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume no Tojimari

The latest from the Your Name director arrives in Japanese theaters this November.

The first (short) teaser has been released for Makoto Shinkai’s latest film. Titled Suzume no Tojimari (which literally translates into Suzume’s Door-Locking), the film is instantly identifiable as a Shinkai film, from the lushly detailed artwork and aquatic imagery to the fantastical tone.

According to the film’s official synopsis, Suzume no Tojimari follows a high school student named Suzume who stumbles across a door standing in the midst of some ruins. When she opens the door, she sets off a chain reaction, so Suzume teams up with a mysterious young man to travel around Japan on a mission to close similar doors and prevent any further damage.

Shinkai’s previous films include Weathering With You, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Voices of a Distant Star, and Your Name, which is the third highest-grossing anime film of all time behind Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train and Spirited Away.

Suzume no Tojimari will arrive in Japanese theaters on November 11. There’s no word on any American release dates, though given that this is Makoto Shinkai, an American release is inevitable. More info can be found on Anime News Network.
