Trump’s Chaos

US Capitol, Trump's Chaos
This is what we reap from four years of Trump(Leah Millis)

This chaos is Trump’s fault. He would rather watch our country burn than ever admit that he was wrong, or worse, that he lost.

Which is not to say that the senators, representatives, and other officials who, for weeks on end, enabled Trump’s madness and willingly went along with it out of fear of their base and/or desire for status and power don’t share the blame, too. They’ve proven themselves to be unfit for office. (As for those Republicans speaking out now, welcome to the party… but don’t expect too much credit for words that you should’ve been saying all along.)

And of course, let us never forget those Christian leaders who gladly threw in their lot with a lying, racist, misogynistic narcissist, and in the process, burned all of their integrity and prophetic witness to ash. I was always told that post-modernism, Hollywood, liberalism, socialism, or some other evangelical bogeyman would be the one to make a mockery of the Church. Turns out, we did it to ourselves. Satan is surely laughing it up right now.

So in the end, this is what we get. This is what we reap from four years of Trump (though in truth, the seeds were planted long ago). White supremacists and domestic terrorists invading our nation’s Capitol in order to overturn a legitimate election through force, and gleefully looting and endangering lives out of loyalty to a madman who spouts little but lies and conspiracy theories.
