The Uptown (RIP)

Earlier this week, part of Toronto’s Uptown Theatre collapsed as it was being demolished, killing one person. I’ve no wish to make light of that particular tragedy whatsoever, but it also saddens me to hear this because the Uptown was part of one of the greatest experiences I’ve had in recent years, that being attending the Toronto International Film Festival for the first time. I’ll never forget the Midnight Madness screening of “Save The Green Planet” (one of the most amazing moviegoing experiences I’ve ever had), or when 900 of us had the bejeezers scared out of us by “Ju-On”. Others are sharing their Uptown memories on this MeFi thread.
