The Return of the Shakedown

I don’t know if you’ve felt it or not, but there’s been a hole in the Interwebs since January of this year. That’s when Grady Hendrix announced that his Asian film blog Kaiju Shakedown was shutting down — an announcement that had fans of Asian cinema everywhere reaching for their hankies. (If you want to know why he was so missed, just read his review of Satoshi Kon’s Paprika.)

But today, we can put away the tissues. Today is a day for rejoicing. The Shakedown is back as part of Variety Asia Online. Which means more of Hendrix’s smart writing and commentary on all things related to Asian cinema (and then some). As one of the commenters on the new Kaiju Shakedown put it, the Internet just got better.
