The Return of Godspeed You! Black Emperor

It’s official: Godspeed You! Black Emperor is returning from a nearly decade-long absence to curate All Tomorrow’s Parties’ “Nightmare Before Christmas” (read the band’s official statement). In addition to ATP, the band will also play several European shows and nine American shows. And, in keeping with their enigmatic image — which has remained largely intact over the years — they will not be fielding any other offers nor will they be doing any interviews. Which, to be quite honest, is quite refreshing in today’s “need to know everything now” culture.

Of course, this all begs the question of whether or not a new Godspeed release will surface in the relatively near future. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to hearing any bootlegs — and hoping and praying that one of those American dates is relatively close to Lincoln.
