The Mary Onettes on Last.fm

The Mary Onettes

I’ll admit, I haven’t got into the whole Last.fm gig as much I perhaps should. But one can only do so much social networking and whatnot in a day. However, there are some beautiful things about the site. For instance, the fact that they’re currently streaming the brand new EP from Swedish popsters The Mary Onettes in its entirety.

Labrador describes The Mary Onettes as a modern version of A-ha dressed in black mixed with early The Jesus and Mary Chain. Which, admittedly, doesn’t really work on paper. Indeed, it sounds downright silly. But that doesn’t mean that the three songs on Void are any less brilliant, especially the title track, which is so blissfully retro it’s prescient.
