(Sleepy) Boys and Their Toys

Thank God for tax refunds! Thanks to a rather sizable refund from our friends in Washington D.C., I was able to afford some new toys. First off was a new scanner. Trust me, the pictures don’t do it justice. Now I can do everything Opus-related from the comfort of my bedroom, whereas before I had to make use of the equipment at work.

Is it some sort of indie-pop cliche to buy old vintage synths? Oh well… that didn’t stop me from plunking down some cash for a Roland JX-3P (along with the PG-200 Programmer, I might add). I never thought twiddling knobs and turning dials could be so much fun, and I’m not even a keyboardist!

I also bought a new book today. If you knew how long it’s been since I’ve read a good novel, you’d realize just how miraculous that was.

Though not really a toy, this last item still promises some great fun. I got me some tickets to the Sigur Rós show in Chicago on May 6. Only $15… before TicketMaster threw in their 2 cents and charged me for it. Hopefully, this upcoming Chicago experience will be better than the last one.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get some sleep so I can go insane at work tomorrow.
