School of Rock

George and I just got back from catching School of Rock, and, well, to be quite honest (and clichéd), it rocked. This is the movie that Jack Black has been destined to star in (at least until the Tenacious D movie comes out).

Although it doesn’t quite match his brilliance in High Fidelity, it’s a much more solid role all around, and certainly a lot warmer and funner. No one else but Black could’ve pulled it off, and it’s worth it just to see all of the facial expressions he throws out. Matching him stride for stride are all of the kids in the movie, from the prissy band manager to the sullen guitarist to the groupies and stylist.

Absolute comedic brilliance, and some of the most fun I’ve had in a theatre this year. And be sure to stick around for all of the end credits…
