Concert Video: Roadside Monument at Cornerstone 2002

The Chrindie emo giants tear it up in Bushnell, Illinois.

Back in the early ’00s, I purchased a MiniDV recorder and set out to record as many concerts as possible. The audio and video quality isn’t the greatest — some of the videos are shaky because I recorded them in the middle of the concert venue without a tripod or microphone — but the nostalgia factor is off the charts.

Roadside Monument reunited for this late night (midnight?) show at the 2002 Cornerstone Festival which featured some brilliant performances, including “My Hands Are Thermometers” and a particularly intense version of “Sperm Ridden Burden,” as well as some material that’s never been officially recorded or released. Definitely one of the highlights from that year’s festival for me.

Some clips from this video have been floating around on YouTube for awhile now, albeit in a lower quality. That’s because I posted those clips on Opus years ago before YouTube even existed. I’m not at all surprised that they eventually made their way to YouTube but I’m glad to (finally) post the video in its entirety. Enjoy!
