Paprika, QuickTime-Style

Paprika - Satoshi Kon

I was originally going to mention this as part of an Elsewhere collection, but something this glorious deserves its very own entry.

There’s a new trailer for Paprika, the latest from Satoshi Kon, and it’s — to put it mildly — mind-blowing. Not just because the animation is gorgeous — which, since this is Satoshi Kon we’re talking about, should come as no surprise whatsoever — but because the imagery is trippy beyond trippy (think Gilliam plus Lynch, turned up to eleven). And the infectious music, which makes me giddy every time I hear it, is the icing on the cake.

Watch the trailer here, and if you can, make sure to watch it in HD. Believe me, the stunning imagery will be worth the extra download time. Paprika opens in the U.S. on May 25th, 2007. Suffice to say, it’s shot right to the top of my “must see” list.
