New Subscriber Playlist: “Twee AF”

There’s something about springtime that puts me in a twee state of mind. The sunshine and returning warmth, the fresh breezes, the blue skies… they all put me in a mood for chiming guitars, earnest vocals, and songs filled with naïveté and heartache. So this month’s playlist — titled “Twee AF” — is a celebration of all things twee, highlighting songs from Heavenly, The Field Mice, Talulah Gosh, and many more.
Accompanying the playlist is the latest episode of my“Playlist Breakdown” podcast, in which I spotlight one of the playlist’s songs and why it’s so special, interesting, and/or meaningful. In this month’s episode, I discuss “Boys Don’t Matter,” a gorgeous pop symphony from Unisex, the 1994 sophomore album by Blueboy.
