New Subscriber Playlist: “Other Voices”

Subscribers can listen to 25 artists who bear the indelible mark of The Cure’s influence.

Last month’s subscriber playlist celebrated the 30th anniversary of Wish, which was my introduction to the music of The Cure. This month’s playlist — titled “Other Voices” — sticks with the Cure theme, and highlights just a few of the artists that have been influenced by Robert Smith et al. over the decades. Spanning shoegaze, metal, synth-pop, and even folk, the playlist offers up just a glimpse of The Cure’s considerable and indelible legacy.

Accompanying the playlist is the latest episode of my“Playlist Breakdown” podcast, in which I spotlight one of the playlist’s songs and why it’s so special and meaningful. In this episode, I discuss “This Twilight Garden,” a Wish B-side that’s one of the dreamiest and most romantic songs in The Cure’s catalog.
