New Bark Psychosis

So I was perusing the All Music Guide, getting some info on Bark Psychosis, when I happened to see a new album entitled Codename: Dustsucker listed for 2003. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I mean, this is Bark Psychosis we’re talking about. The band that recorded Hex, the album that literally defined post-rock, and then broke up. And now, nearly 10 years later, they’re releasing a new album?!? And they’re calling it Codename: Dustsucker?!?

After firing up Google, I was able to find out some more info on the upcoming release. Codename: Dustsucker is essentially a Graham Sutton solo affair, with a handful of collaborators, including Lee Harris (Talk Talk!) on drums. The album was originally set to be released on Parlophone/EMI, but that deal fell through. As a result, the album was in limbo for several years, with Sutton only recently regaining the rights. A release date is planned for sometime this year.

In addition to the new album, a live CD be released as well, on 3rd Stone Ltd (which released two Bark Psychosis compilations, Independency and Game Over).

Holy frijoles… a new Bark Psychosis album! As far as I’m concerned, this is on par with a new My Bloody Valentine album.
