My Favorite Song Title of 2009 (So Far)

Múm

I can’t hope to nominate my favorite albums of the year so far, like several of my fellow bloggers have done recently. I feel like I’ve heard so little this year — and the releases that I have heard and do like I like too much to rank them effectively, in my opinion (which is why I do year-end mixes instead of year-end lists).

All that being said, I do think it’s quite safe to say that Sing Along to Songs You Don’t Know — the new album from those Icelandic pixies in Múm — does contain my favorite song title of the year so far: “The Smell of Today Is Sweet Like Breastmilk in the Wind.”

I’ve missed out on Múm’s recent activity, but I’ll be buying Sing Along to Songs You Don’t Know — which is due out in September — for that track title alone, if only so that I can (finally) hear what the sweet smell of wind-borne breast milk sounds like.
