“Mood Swing” by Glixen

If you name your band after a lovesliescrushing song, then A) you’re definitely going to pique my curiosity, and B) you’re setting a pretty high bar for yourself. But in the case of Arizona’s Glixen — seriously, what is it with Arizona and fuzz-laden shoegaze/dreampop par excellence? — they more than meet expectations thanks to a healthy dose of MBV-style “glide guitar” and Aislinn Ritchie’s ethereal voice.

Prior to Glixen, Ritchie fronted a band called Dovi that achieved a similarly blissed out vibe on their handful of releases, like 2018’s Desirable Bliss EP.
