Minor Victories, Featuring Members of Slowdive & Mogwai
Despite rarely having been in the same room together, the group will release a full-length album this June.
You’d assume that, given my fondness for all things Slowdive, I would’ve written something about Minor Victories by now. Minor Victories is a new “supergroup” (gads, I hate that term) that features Rachel Goswell (Slowdive) and Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai). And yet the group has largely flown under my radar… until now.
Minor Victories had its genesis when Editors’ Justin Lockey, who had started work on a solo project, was put in touch with Goswell when he wanted some female vocals. They then recruited Braithwaite to add some additional guitars, followed by Justin’s brother James. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, the group has been able to create most of their music while rarely, if ever, being in the same room together.
