Miles Morales Is on the Run in the Latest Across the Spider-Verse Trailer

The highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s acclaimed Into the Spider-Verse keeps looking better and better.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is one of my most anticipated movies of 2023. It’s predecessor, 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse, was plenty ambitious thanks to its stunning visuals and heartfelt storyline — read my review — and Across the Spider-Verse looks to be even more so.

In this most recent trailer, we get glimpses of Miles Morales’ increasingly complicated life as both a student and superhero, and not everything’s going well. (For starters, he’s only getting a “B” in Spanish.) But life gets even more complicated when he 1) encounters a villain named The Spot who can travel to other universes, 2) reunites with Gwen Stacy from Earth-65, and 3) travels through the multi-verse to meet all of the other Spider-People out there. (io9 has more in their trailer breakdown.)

The movie’s clearly drawing a comparison between Miles’ idealism and the brutal pragmatism of Miguel O’Hara, a Spider-Man from an alternate dystopic future, with plenty of action as a result. Everything about Across the Spider-Verse looks bigger, and I can’t wait to see it in theaters when it arrives on June 2, 2023. (And if that wasn’t enough, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is scheduled for March 29, 2024.)
