Microsoft Edge’s New Logo

The new logo represents a further break with past Microsoft browsers.
Microsoft Edge Logo

Late last year, Microsoft announced that their Edge web browser would be rebuilt on top of Chromium, the same open source browser that powers Google’s Chrome. So I suppose it only follows that Microsoft would reveal a brand new logo for Edge in an attempt to further break with the past.

Though still a stylized “e,” the new logo looks nothing like previous Edge or Internet Explorer logos, nor does it look all that similar to Microsoft’s Office icon redesign. If anything, its swirly shape is more reminiscent of the recently revamped Firefox brand.

The Chromium-based version of Edge, complete with new logo, will be officially released January 15, 2020 for Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and macOS.
