The Mandalorian Stalks His Way Through His First Trailer

The Star Wars series will debut on the Disney+ streaming service on November 12.

In addition to announcing series for Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk at their D23 expo, Disney also released the first trailer for The Mandalorian, an upcoming Star Wars series for the Disney+ streaming service.

The series, which follows the adventures of a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal), is set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and according to producer Jon Favreau, it’ll explore the “the darker, freakier side of Star Wars, the Mad Max aspect of Star Wars.”

I don’t know what that means, exactly, but I do know that this first trailer looks fantastic. Disney is obviously sinking a decent bit of change into The Mandalorian, and I love that the main character is still left very much an enigma.

What’s more, the series is packed with talent, both in front of and behind the camera. The cast includes Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Nick Nolte, and Werner freakin’ Herzog, while Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi will direct episodes.

The more I see about Disney+ and its offerings, like The Mandalorian, the more of a no-brainer it becomes.
