Let Them Sing It For You

On the surface, Let Them Sing It For You doesn’t seem like that big a deal. You type in some sentences, and the website “sings” it back to you, using snippets from assorted pop songs. Apparently, it’s all some sort of art project:

Through pop lyrics you learn to identify your own personal feelings of love, loneliness and joy with those of famous stars. Behind these public feelings there are often the desires of commercial powers such as record and film companies. Through Let them sing it for you, you get the possibility of doing it the other way around. Instead of letting your vocabulary of feelings be dictated by famous voices, let the famous voices express your innermost thoughts.

That may be true and stuff, but the real reason for doing this isn’t to “express your innermost thoughts.” Rather, it’s just really, really hilarious to hear some random phrase sung by an equally random array of pop stars; Chris Isaak, Prince, David Lee Roth, Billy Idol, Human League, Sade, and heaven knows what else. (And yes, I can confirm that the library does include swear words. Don’t ask me how I know that, though.)

Thanks to Aaron for the 411.
