Lake Trout, Live

Funny how these things work out sometimes…

Earlier this week, as I was waxing nostalgic for bands that I haven’t heard anything from in awhile, I started poking around the Intertubes to see if there were any new happenings in the Lake Trout camp.

And then, just two days ago, I got an e-mail from the folks at The Biggest Label Ever announcing that they were releasing Lake Trout’s first official live album. All you have to do is register for a free account and the album is yours for the downloading.

Here’s the tracklist:

  1. Riddle
  2. Piece
  3. New Thing
  4. Systematic Self
  5. Shiny Wrapper
  6. Burr (The Man)
  7. Not Them You
  8. Say Something
  9. Stutter
  10. #2
  11. Wave Of Mutilation
  12. Pill
  13. »>
  14. Bliss

I gave it a spin at work today, and it’s a great recording. While I’m a little bummed that some of my fave Lake Trout tracks — e.g., “Holding” (from 2002’s Another One Lost — weren’t in the performance, what is there reveals a band with an obviously massive, and even punishing live sound.

Oh, and the Pixies cover will be the icing on the cake for some of you.

What’s more, Lake Trout has recorded some new material to be released in conjunction with the live album. The first one — “What You Need” — can be downloaded from the band’s website.
