Exploring Anime from a Christian Perspective

This may be the only anime article you’ll read that mentions Bertrand Russell in a review of Attack on Titan.
Attack on Titan

I’m very pleased to announce that the December issue of the Christian Research Journal will feature an article that I wrote on the topic of anime. The article offers a brief overview of anime’s growing influence in American pop culture, takes an honest look at some of anime’s darker aspects, and then discusses several anime titles and series that Christians may find praiseworthy and thought-provoking.

It was a fun piece to research and write, and if nothing else, it may be the only anime-related article you’ll read that discusses gnosticism alongside Ghost in the Shell or mentions Bertrand Russell in a review of Attack on Titan.

Related: The Journal is currently running a special offer: subscribe for a year ($39.50 for 6 issues, all of which are packed with articles and cultural analysis) and get a 7th issue for free.
