It’s that time of year again, for music critics to start looking back on the year so far and begin asking that all important question of what will appear on their year-end lists. Andy Whitman and Jeff Weiss have thrown out their lists — and both contain some obvious choices, as well as a few surprises.

The Mach 5 lives, plus more on the Wachowski Brothers’ upcoming live action remake of the classic animated series.

Sam — who has returned from a too-long blogging hiatus — reviews The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, an immensely popular anime series that has just been released here in the States by Bandai.

And speaking of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, one of the trends that seems to be sweeping Japan are flash mobs getting together to perform the dance that plays during the end credits. You can find a bunch of videos via YouTube, but this one is my current fave (thanks, Sam!). The best part? Darth Vader over there on the left.
