DVD Sales Push Serenity Over The Top

As of January 31, over 2 million Serenity DVDs have been sold, and the movie has done $9 million in rental business, which officially makes Serenity a financial success. This shouldn’t come as too much of surprise, since Firefly didn’t become a big success until the DVDs were released (which proved instrumental in Serenity getting made). As much as I would love to see Mal and the crew back on the big screen, if I were a studio wanting to make a sequel, I might be thinking direct-to-DVD release at this point, if only because I know those wacky Browncoats will be buying multiple copies for family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Via
