Done and Done

The weekend update is nearing completion: new album, movie, and concert reviews; Cornerstone 2002 articles and photos; and more band photos. I also revamped much of the site’s backend. Not that that matters too much to you, but it makes updating the site a little smoother. Believe me… I need all the help I can get.

Last night, I went to a wedding reception for an old friend of mine. Normally, I’m not one for trying to rekindle old acquaintances. You stand around awkwardly for about 10 minutes or so, struggling to remember any details that might allow you to have some semblance of a meaningful conversation.

You stammer over the usual things — job, family, mutual friends (if any), the good ol’ days — and afterwards, you sort of wish you hadn’t bumped into each other in the first place because your face is really sore from ginning so much.

But I must admit that I really am excited about the possibility of some old friends reentering my life. I’m not sure what it is. Maybe I’m starting to realize that a lot of things I’ve shunned or neglected over the years really do have value. Maybe I just need some new blood in my life to kick me out of this rut that I’ve sort of fallen into the past few months.

Or maybe I’m just craving some old friends who are part of a past that had some really, really good times.

Whatever it is, this coming Friday should be a good time. God bless steak and beer…

Just a reminder… Monday night brings the rock n’ roll at my place, so come on over if you’re in the neighborhood.
