Detective Benoit Blanc Is Back in the First Trailer for Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Detective Benoit Blanc’s latest case begins streaming on Netflix this December.

Rian Johnson’s Knives Out was a thoroughly enjoyable riff on convoluted Agatha Christie-style murder mysteries, with Daniel Craig starring as Detective Benoit Blanc, a southern gentleman whose investigation unravels a family’s secrets. Knives Out was a critical and commercial hit, so a sequel was all but inevitable. In March 2021, Netflix announced they were partnering with Johnson for not one, but two Knives Out sequels.

The first teaser for Glass Onion dropped today, with Craig returning as Blanc. This time around, he’s summoned to a billionaire’s private Greek island after a dead body turns up. And just like the original Knives Out, Glass Onion has a packed cast that includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, and Ethan Hawke.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will have its world premier at the this month’s Toronto International Film Festival followed by a limited theatrical run in November 2022. It will begin streaming on Netflix on December 23, just in time for Christmas. However, some lucky folks may (or may not) have already seen Glass Onion, and may (or may not) think it’s even better than the first film.
