Design House

Methinks if I ever start my own company, I’ll be looking for a slightly older house.

Whilst perusing the CSS Beauty archives (which just got redesigned, BTW), I came across this site for Bellacure . Which I liked so much that I wanted to find out who was behind the code. Which turns out to be Phinney/Bischoff Design House, a Seattle-based firm with a very nice, clean aesthetic about their work.

I wonder how much of that has to do with their office space, a turn-of-the-century house (which is displayed throughout their site in the mastheads). As much as I like the offices my company moved into last year (let’s hear it for downtown Lincoln), I have to say that the idea of working in a renovated house is just brilliant.

You’ve already got the breakroom (i.e. the kitchen) and bathrooms, the dining room and living room would be ideal customer service/customer account areas, the bedrooms would make great offices/studios, and the basement would make an ideal fun room (multiplayer XBox anyone?). And as a client, how much more would that say if you could sit in a living room, complete with couches and coffee table than your typical boring old waiting room.

Methinks if I ever start my own company, I’ll be looking for a slightly older house, preferably one with wooden floors, a roomy basement, and a nice little attic.
