Daniel Radcliffe is “Weird Al” Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

The sordid true story lurking behind the delightful song parodies and goofy Hawaiian shirts will finally be revealed.

OK folks, you can stop all of your Oscar discussions, forecasts, and prognositications. I’m calling it now: Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, starring Daniel Radcliffe as the world’s greatest mustachioed accordion-playing song parodist, is going to sweep the Academy Awards — and you can quote me on that.

According to The Playlist, the upcoming movie “claims to hold nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like Eat It’ and Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. It will also take audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time to ever play the accordion.”

As for Daniel Radcliffe (of Harry Potter fame), he calls it “the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al’s depraved and scandalous life.” The film also stars Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna and Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento.

I think we’ve all known for a long time that a sordid and salacious tale of debauchery lurks behind all of the delightful song parodies and goofy Hawaiian shirts, and I, for one, can’t wait to see it. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will stream on The Roku Channel sometime this fall.
