Commander Shepard coming to the silver screen?

Slashfilm reports that producer Avi Arad (Iron Man, Spider-Man films) has optioned the movie rights for Mass Effect. This doesn’t really surprise me, seeing as how the game was influenced by, and dropped references to, classic sci-fi films, and was pretty cinematic in and of itself. And seeing as how it’s the first game in a trilogy, there’s certainly plenty of storyline to work with. Here’s hoping that, if this moves forward, they get a good director and it doesn’t go the way of the Halo movie.
