Brad Laner Scores Beautiful Noise

Back in July, I posted about Beautiful Noise, a documentary due out in 2008 that looks at the shoegazer scene, a music genre that I greatly adore.

Of course, if you’re making a film about the shoegazer scene, it only stands to reason that you hire a shoegazer to write the score. And in this case, that shoegazer happens to be Brad Laner. Laner was the former frontman of Medicine, one of the first American shoegaze outfits. (Medicine is profiled during the section of the film focusing on shoegaze’s “first wave” — and is the only American act profiled during that section.)

In other Laner-related news, the man recently released a new solo album entitled Neighbor Singing on the Hometapes label.
