Back From The Grave… For Now…

Well, here it is, our first update for the month of November. It’s started off with quite a bang for me personally. Last night, I caught Sunny Day Real Estate in concert and I saw Tristeza the night before. Both shows were incredible, though I’d have to say that, on an emotional level, Sunny Day resonated with me a lot more. But both bands are phenomenal and you should see them if they come to your area.

Well, after what seemed like a too-long hiatus, I’ve added 2 new movie reviews. As I said before, I’m going to try to and get more movie reviews in the near future. For some reason, it’s easier for me to write movie reviews than it is to write album reviews. I don’t know why. Maybe movies have more to talk about, since they exist in multiple media, as opposed to music. Or maybe I just like ranting on and on about kung fu flicks.

But don’t worry, because we’ve got plenty of new album reviews for you. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but this year has been absolutely phenomenal for music, and the past month saw two of the biggest releases of 2000, at least for us here at Opus. And wouldn’t you know… we’ve got reviews of both the new Radiohead and the new Godspeed You Black Emperor!

Hopefully, that’ll tide you over until the next update. I’ve got a frickin’ huge stack of CDs on my desk begging to be reviewed, so I’ll have plenty to do. But I’m always looking for writers, so if you feel like ranting and raving about a record, let me know and I’ll send you a list of CDs that you can review. Plus, let me know if there’s anything you like to see in our pages. We’re always keen to new ideas and suggestions. Or if you think we’re just full of ourselves, we’d like to hear that as well. Well, actually we wouldn’t, but I guess you have to take the good with the bad.
