B-Day for Jorje

So I just got back from seeing X2, and it definitely did not disappoint. Just as good, if not better than the first movie, with plenty of nice character moments and tons of action. That Oval Office scene with Nightcrawler… wow! I’m sure most people will write it off as typical summer blockbuster fare, but there’s plenty of stuff going on below the surface, especially in the characters of Nightcrawler (a demonic looking mutant covered in angelic scars whose a devout Catholic to boot) and Wolverine. But if you’re just looking for a good action fix, you could do much, much worse. Of course, it’s kind of pointless for me to write all of this, since everyone and their kid brother will be seeing it anyways.

I also listened to the new Tie These Hands/Mr. 1986 split, courtesy of Seth, and it’s really solid. Tie These Hands just keeps getting stronger, moving a little bit from the emo sound and taking on a more solid, mature pop direction. And Mr. 1986’s tracks just destroy, period. Hopefully, a label will pick it up soon, because it’s really good.

And oh yeah… happy birthday to George, who turned 23 today.
