Any News is Good News

For those of you who can’t get enough Japanese samurai/yakuza/zombie loving… the North American release of Versus is scheduled to come out later this summer. However, there could possibly be a UK release coming out sooner, which is good news if you’ve got a regionless DVD player that does PAL-NTSC conversion.

The Hero DVD is coming out on February 24th, just a little over a month from now. Infernal Affairs (which is currently the biggest movie in Hong Kong) comes out on DVD in early February, though VCD copies are currently available through some importers. I’ve been tempted, but I’m holding out until the real deal arrives.

If you’re looking for an Icelandic kick, there’s a decent interview with Amina, the string quartet that’s been supporting Sigur Rós on their latest touring and recording efforts. Speaking of interviews, Splendid put up a good Damien Jurado interview awhile back. I meant to post about it earlier, but you know how it goes.

Spiritualized is releasing a rarities compilation in March. Titled The Complete Works Part 1, it will be a double disc featuring singles and b-sides taken from the band’s first 3 years of existence. “Part 2” will be released later this year. Love to Fine Print for the original post.
