And in the Endless Pause There Came the Sound of Bees - Jóhann Jóhannsson

Along with Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson has become the face of the “post-classical” movement. Albums such as 2006’s IBM 1401, A User’s Manual and 2004’s Virthulegu forsetar are absolutely and breathtakingly beautiful in their blend of traditional classical and orchestral elements, modern electronics, and left-field/experimental atmospherics.

His latest work is And in the Endless Pause There Came the Sound of Bees, a soundtrack for Marc Craste’s animated short Varmints, and it certainly follows in the footsteps of his previous titles. In other words, it’s gorgeous. The first track, “Theme”, is worth the purchase price alone.

Originally released last year as a limited edition vinyl, And in the Endless Pause There Came the Sound of Bees was released earlier this month on CD and as a digital download from iTunes, Amazon, etc. Or, you can just listen to the entire thing via Soundcloud.
